THINK Gas Rolls Out PNGRB National Drive 2.0 in Trivandrum

CNG Awareness Auto rally flagged off and the first high-rise DPNG connection inaugurated in the presence of PNGRB and government officials.

Thiruvananthapuram, 22nd January 2026: THINK Gas, one of India’s leading City Gas Distribution (CGD) players, has kickstarted the PNGRB National Drive 2.0 in Kerala, reaffirming its commitment to accelerating the adoption of natural gas as the cleaner and safer alternate fuel option. As part of the initiative, THINK Gas flagged off a CNG Awareness Auto Rally with participation from over 50+ auto-rickshaws, aimed at creating awareness on the benefits of using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). The rally commenced from THINK Gas Station at Chackai, engaging commuters and citizens along the route.
 
The event also marked the inauguration of the first high-rise Domestic Piped Natural Gas (DPNG) connection in Confident Gold Coast, highlighting infrastructure readiness for smart fuel option in urban homes. 
As part of the PNGRB National Drive 2.0, THINK Gas has committed to connecting 7,500 PNG customers within the Geographical Area (GA) and has already built a robust gas distribution ecosystem, with 55,444 households connected, 47 operational CNG stations, and an extensive pipeline network of 1,507 km of MDPE and 90 km of steel pipelines, enabling safe and uninterrupted access to natural gas across residential and mobility segments.

Commenting on the occasion, Hon’ble MLA Shri Kadakampally Surendran said “The transition to alternate fuels like CNG and PNG is essential for Kerala’s sustainable development and public health. Initiatives such as PNGRB National Drive 2.0 not only strengthen low-emission energy infrastructure but also create awareness at the grassroots level. I commend THINK Gas and PNGRB for driving this important shift towards safer and environmentally responsible energy solutions.”

Adding to this Shri Gagan Aggarwal, Deputy Director I/C (Technical), PNGRB said “PNGRB National Drive 2.0 is focused on accelerating PNG and CNG penetration across authorised Geographical Areas by leveraging completed infrastructure and improving consumer awareness. Trivandrum’s progress demonstrates how coordinated efforts between regulators, operators and local authorities can fast-track the adoption of natural gas.”

PNGRB Drive 2.0 is a nationwide initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) across authorised Geographical Areas where pipeline infrastructure is already in place. The drive focuses on increasing consumer awareness, improving conversion rates among households, commercial establishments and the transport sector, and ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards, thereby supporting India’s broader clean energy and emissions reduction goals.

The drive was inaugurated by Shri Kadakampally Surendran, Hon’ble MLA, in the presence of key dignitaries including Shri Gagan Aggarwal, Deputy Director I/C (Technical), PNGRB; Shri P. Pramod, Director of Factories and Boilers & Chairman, National Safety Council of India (Kerala Chapter); Shri Abhikesh Tiwari, Assistant Consultant (Technical), PNGRB; Smt. R. Veenakumari, Councillor, Anamugham Ward; Shri G. Kesavachandran Nair, President, CGCRA; and Mr. Deepu John, Regional Head – THINK Gas.
