THINK Gas Rolls Out PNGRB National Drive 2.0 in Alappuzha; Inaugurates First Domestic PNG Connection in Mararikulam

Alappuzha, 23rd January 2026: THINK Gas, one of India’s leading City Gas Distribution (CGD) players, has kickstarted the PNGRB National Drive 2.0, reaffirming its commitment to accelerating the adoption of natural gas across the GA. As part of the initiative, THINK Gas inaugurated its first Domestic PNG connection in Mararikulam in the presence of Shri P P Chitharanjan, Hon’ble MLA, Shri. Gagan Agarwal, Deputy Director I/C (Technical), PNGRB, Shri. Ambikesh Tiwari, Assistant Consultant (Technical), PNGRB and Senior THINK Gas officials.
THINK Gas has committed to connecting 7,500 PNG customers within the Geographical Area (GA) between 1st January and 31st March under the PNGRB National Drive 2.0. In the AKT GA, THINK Gas has already established a robust gas distribution ecosystem, with 55,444 households connected, 47 operational CNG stations, and an extensive pipeline network comprising 1,507 km of MDPE pipelines and 90 km of steel pipelines, ensuring safe, reliable, and uninterrupted access to natural gas across residential and mobility segments.
Commenting on the occasion, Shri P P Chitharanjan, Hon’ble MLA said “The launch of the first domestic PNG connection in Mararikulam is a major step forward for the residents of Alappuzha. Clean and affordable energy is no longer a luxury but a necessity for modern living. By bringing piped gas to our kitchens, THINK Gas is not only simplifying the lives of our homemakers but also contributing to a greener Kerala. I encourage our citizens to embrace this cleaner alternative as we move toward a more sustainable future for our district."

PNGRB Drive 2.0 is a nationwide initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) across authorised Geographical Areas where pipeline infrastructure is already in place. The drive focuses on increasing consumer awareness, improving conversion rates among households, commercial establishments and the transport sector, and ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards, thereby supporting India’s broader clean energy and emissions reduction goals.
