-
Eco-friendly
- Emits less pollutants, hence is environment-friendly.
- Emits more pollutants.
- Emits more pollutants.
- Emits less pollution than Petrol and Diesel but more than CNG.
-
Bi-Fuel
- CNG vehicles come with bi-fuel access and can run on Petrol as well.
- Vehicles can only run on Petrol.
- Vehicles can only run on Diesel.
- Vehicles can only run on LPG.
-
Economical
- CNG is an affordable fuel and keeps the vehicle maintenance cost low.
- The fuel prices keep inflating and running cost is higher.
- The fuel prices keep inflating and running cost is higher than CNG.
- The fuel prices are cheaper than Petrol and Diesel.
-
Mileage
- Gives the best mileage and helps the engine perform better.
- Gives the lowest mileage.
- Gives a better mileage than Petrol, still lower than CNG.
- LPG gives a better mileage than Petrol and Diesel, still lower than CNG.
-
Noise
- Has lowest noise vibration and harshness.
- Has low noise vibration and harshness.
- Has low noise vibration and harshness than petrol.
- Has low noise vibration and harshness.
-
Safer to use
- Lightness of gas helps in dissipation and higher auto ignition temperature reduces chance of explosion in case of leakage.
- Heavier fuel with lower ignition temperature, hence the oil stays around the vehicle during leaks.
- Heavier fuel with lower ignition temperature.
- Fuel is heavier than air hence is associated with higher risk of explosion.

- No, OEM fitted CNG kits come with ECU (electronic control units) and fuel injection system that ensure adequate fuel supply. Kits make use of ECUs and intelligent injection systems that don’t affect a vehicle's engine. Hence, CNG does not reduce a vehicle's engine life if the kit is factory-fitted and maintained timely.
- Yes, CNG gives a better fuel economy as compared to other fuels like diesel and petrol.
- The self-ignition temperature of CNG is about 540-degree Celsius whereas petrol burns at roughly 280-degree Celsius. Being a gaseous fuel, a leak can be detected because of the odor. This helps in keeping passengers safe and even the CNG cylinders are built to withstand more pressure than they will be usually subjected to even in case of accidents.
- The quality of the CNG kit and its installation are both equally important. For proper functioning of the CNG run vehicle and ensuring trouble-free performance, the kit should be installed by a well-trained and RTO approved retrofitter.
- You can consider refueling the CNG early in the day when the temperature is low because CNG expands as the temperature rises and you may not get the right amount of fuel.
